Southeast Fairfax County
Fairfax County is located in Northern Virginia, close to D.C. It is home to national protected areas including the Elizabeth Hartwell Mason Neck National Wildlife Refuge and Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts. The county is bounded on the north and southeast by the Potomac River.

Fairfax County was the site of important Civil War battles including the Battle of Chantilly or Oz Hill was fought within Fairfax County.
Arts and Culture
Each year the "Celebrate Fairfax!" festival is held during June in Fairfax City at the Fairfax County Government Center. Located near Vienna, the Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts features a performing arts center.
Recreation
Fairfax County is home to the Washington & Old Dominion Railroad Trail, one of the region's best walking and biking routes. The Fairfax Cross County Trail runs from Great Falls National Park to Occoquan Regional Park and is used mostly by recreational mountain bikers, hikers, and horse riders.
